So-called environmentalists in this society practice a shallow concessionary environmentalism. At University of Toronto there is no real environmental movement to speak of, and the environmental NGOs in Canada water down their message to be respectable, but in so doing lose their credibility. The mass culture in Canada is almost totally unconscious, is totally unsustainable, and is clearly doomed. Yet at the same time I cannot endorse violence as a response because it simply leads to more violence. What is needed to break through this impasse? Surely it cannot be waiting for a major catastrophe to happen!
